  • Once uploaded and verified, the e-service book will serve as the official record, phasing out traditional paper files.

  • Digitally enter and update every employee’s record on the e-HRMS 2.0 portal
  • Verify all details before fully switching to digital records
  • Phase out physical service books after data migration
  • Recognize only the e-service book as the official document

Other Recent Reforms for Government Employees and Pensioners

The shift to e-service books is part of a broader wave of employee-friendly reforms:

  • CGHS Improvements: The Central Government Health Scheme now covers more private hospitals, and has strengthened cashless treatment options for pensioners, ensuring wider healthcare access.
  • Option to Return to OPS: Certain employees facing death or permanent disability during service can now switch from NPS to the Old Pension Scheme, adding a layer of pension security.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA) Hike: In January 2025, DA was raised by 2%, bringing it to 48% and helping employees combat inflation.
  • 8th Pay Commission: Preparations have begun for the much-awaited 8th Pay Commission, which could bring substantial changes to salary structure, DA, and other allowances.
