- When local officials failed to provide satisfactory explanations, the Commissioner ordered immediate disciplinary action.
Immediate Transfers and Suspensions
The crackdown led to swift administrative changes:
- Assistant Commissioner Balasaheb Dhawale Patil was transferred on the spot.
- Executive Engineer Ravi Khandare was appointed in his place.
- Three officials were suspended for poor performance:
- A branch engineer from the Drainage Department
- A health inspector from the Solid Waste Management Department
- A mukadam (supervisory worker)
These steps reflect a zero-tolerance approach toward civic negligence and reinforce the importance of field accountability.

Just two days earlier, the Commissioner had taken similar action during an inspection of Wagholi under the Nagar Road Regional Office.
- Assistant Commissioner Sheetal Wakde and two officials—Deputy Engineer Vinayak Shinde and Officer Ganesh Puram—were transferred due to inaction on drainage and encroachment issues.
- The Commissioner had also criticized the poor condition of dividers along the Pune–Solapur Highway, demanding immediate improvement.

In a stern message, the Commissioner warned that officers showing inefficiency or negligence would face:
- Departmental inquiries
- Suspension
- Transfers to non-executive posts
“Officials must work effectively to resolve issues of sanitation, drainage, encroachments, and traffic congestion across the city, or strict disciplinary action will follow,” the Commissioner stated.
