It is done by using simple techniques or better known as the IMEI number which is a Unique Identification number of each handset that has been sold in India for very long. About Know Your Mobile (KYM) Portal

The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) offers a Know Your Mobile (KYM) service. Through this service mobile devices can be checked even before buying. You just have to use the IMEI written on the packaging box / mobile bill/invoice. You could even check the IMEI number of your mobile by dialing *#06#. If the status of the mobile is blacklisted, duplicate, or already in use do not buy it. KYM could be used by the following three methods:

Through SMS

  • You have to type KYM < 15 digit IMEI number > from your mobile and send it to 14422. The status of the phone will be on your screen.

Through KYM App

  • You can check the status of your mobile by entering IMEI number in KYM app.

Through Official Web Portal

  • Go to the official website.
  •  scroll down and click on ‘here’ option under web portal.
  • You will be redirected to the new page.
  • Now you have to enter your mobile number.
  • You will receive an OTP
  • Enter that OTP.
  • Then you will be asked to enter the 15 digit IMEI number.
  • Enter the IMEI number.
  • The status of the phone will be on your screen

Know Your Customer App Download

There are two ways to download CEIR know your customer mobile app which is as follows:-

Through Google Play Store or Apple App Store

  • Open Google Play Store or Apple App store on your mobile
  • Go to the search option and type KYM- Know Your Mobile App
  • Now click on the install button the app will be downloaded in the background
  • Open the app and enter the IMEI number.
  • The status of the phone will be on your screen

Through Official Website

  • Go to the official website.
  • Scroll down and click on ‘download the KYM app’ link under KYM app
  • You will be redirected to a new page which will contain a QR code
  • Scan that QR code on your mobile phone
  • The app will be downloaded and installed on your phone
  • Open the app and enter the IMEI number.
  • The status of phone will be on your screen

Procedures To Track Lost Phones

To track the lost phones of the residents of India, the following procedure will be undertaken by the concerned authorities through CEIR:-

  • First, the person will have to make an FIR filled in the name of his or her mobile handset.
  • After successful police verification, the FIR copy will be awarded to the person.
  • Then the person will have to inform DoT via a helpline number 14422
  • The DoT will then blacklist the IMEI number.

 Ways To Block The Mobile Set

There are three ways through which you can block your mobile handset through the central equipment investigation register such as:-

Through Online Registration Form-

  • First, the person needs to lodge an FIR against the stolen mobile phone.
  • After successful FIR, the person will have to take a duplicate sim card of his or her previous number as stolen.
  • You will then have to fill up this Application Form given here.
  • Submit all the relevant documents such as the FIR copy and an identity proof can be Aadhaar card or voter ID card.
  • A request ID will be generated when you will successfully submit the form.
  • Keep the request ID for future use.
  • Second Through TSP
  • Third Through central police

Procedure to Unblock Find Mobile

  • To unblock your find mobile you have to visit the Central Equipment Identity Register official website
  • Now go to the “CEIR Services” option available in the menu bar of the opened page
  • A drop-down list will appear on the screen from where you have to select the Un-Block found mobile option
  • A new page appears with the form where you have to enter the details such as to request ID, mobile number you provide while blocking, a reason to unblock and mobile number for OTP.
  • Select GET OTP option and you will receive an OTP via SMS
  • Enter the OTP and click “submit” option to submit the request.

Procedure to Check Request Status

  • To unblock your find mobile you have to visit the Central Equipment Identity Register official website i.e. ceir.gov.in
  • Now go to the “CEIR Services” option available in the menu bar of the opened page
  • A Drop down list will appear on the screen from where you have to select the “check request status” option
  • A new page appears with the form where you have to enter request ID and click submit option
  • Your request status will appear on the computer screen

Procedure To Do IMEI Verification

  • First of all, you have to go to the central equipment identity register’s official website
  • A home page will be open in front of you
  • On the home page, you have to click on the application link
  • Now you have to select IMEI Verification
  • A new page will be open in front of you where you have to enter your mobile number
  • Now you have to click on get OTP
  • An OTP will be sent on your mobile phone which you have to enter the OTP box
  • Now you have to click on verify OTP
  • After that, you have to enter the IMEI number
  • Now you need to click on the check
  • Your IMEI number will be verified

Procedure To Give Feedback

  • First of all, you have to go to the central equipment identity register’s official website i.e. ceir.gov.in
  • A home page will be open in front of you
  • On the home page, you have to click on a useful link
  • After that, you have to click on the feedback
  • Now a form will be open in front of your screen where you have to enter your name, email id , and your feedback
  • Now you have to click on submit

Procedure To Login on (CEIR) Official Website

  • First of all, you have to go to the central equipment identity register’s official website
  • A home page will be open in front of you
  • On the home page, you have to click on the login link which is present at the left side of the website
  • Now a new page will be open in front of you where you have to enter your username and password
  • Now you have to click on submit

Fault Registration

  • First of all, you have to go to the central equipment identity register’s official website
  • A home page will be open in front of you
  • On the home page, you have to click on the Fault Registration link.
  • Now a new page will be open in front of you.
  • Enter the reason and fault, fault description, and your personal details.
  • Now click on the submit option.

Fault Status

  • First of all, you have to go to the central equipment identity register’s official website i.e. ceir.gov.in
  • A home page will be open in front of you
  • On the home page, you have to click on the Fault Status link.
  • Now a new page will be open in front of you.
  • Enter the ticket id registered mobile number.
  • OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP in the given box.
  • The status will be displayed on the screen
