AI coding boom pushes Supabase to $10 billion valuation

Supabase has raised $500 million in a Series F funding round that values the company at $10 billion before the investment, the company announced Friday.

Including the new capital, the startup’s valuation stands at about $10.5 billion.

The latest round comes just eight months after Supabase raised $100 million at a $5 billion valuation. Earlier, the company secured $200 million at a $2 billion valuation.

AI coding boom boosts usage

Supabase has emerged as a popular database platform among developers using AI coding tools.

Chief executive and co-founder Paul Copplestone said database launches on the platform have risen more than 600% over the past year.

According to Copplestone, more than 60% of those deployments were created “by some sort of AI tool.”

The company now says it has nearly 10 million developers, roughly double the number it had eight months ago.

Copplestone singled out Claude Code and Codex as key contributors to that growth, saying the tools “expand the number of people who can build.”

Supabase is also used by:

  • Bolt
  • Figma
  • Lovable
  • Replit

New tool targets Postgres management

Supabase is built on the open-source database Postgres.

This week, the company introduced Multigres, which it described as an “operating system” for Postgres.

The tool is designed to simplify running Postgres at scale and helps developers manage tasks such as:

  • Read replicas
  • Failovers
  • Connection limits
  • Backups

Different approach to growth

Copplestone has previously said he deliberately avoided tailoring products around large enterprise customers.

Speaking on the Equity podcast in November, he said he rejected what he called the “sh*tification” of developer tools and instead chose to follow his own product strategy rather than adapt to demands tied to multimillion-dollar contracts.

Investors

The Series F round was led by GIC.

Participants included:

  • Stripe (existing investor)
  • Georgian
  • Salesforce Ventures

Supabase has raised $500 million in a Series F round at a $10 billion valuation. The company says AI coding tools have helped drive a 600% increase in database launches and doubled its developer base to nearly 10 million users in eight months.
