The Chhattisgarh government plans to significantly enhance digital infrastructure by installing over 5000 mobile towers in the tribal regions of the state.
5000 Mobile Towers for Tribal Areas
The Chhattisgarh government has announced a major initiative to improve mobile connectivity in its tribal areas, including the Bastar and Surguja regions.
- The government has directed its officials to install over 5000 mobile towers across these areas.
- This project will be executed in a phased manner with a pre-defined timeline to ensure timely completion.
- The move aims to bridge the digital divide and significantly improve access to mobile services in these rural and tribal areas.
A Key Decision by the Chief Minister
This decision was taken by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai during a high-level review meeting with the state’s Electronics and Information Technology Department.
- The CM emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure in facilitating efficient governance and ensuring transparency and accessibility for all citizens, particularly in underserved areas.
- He mentioned that under the e-District 2.0 initiative, the government plans to expand its current online services from 85 to 250 offline services, allowing citizens to access key schemes and facilities from the comfort of their homes.
Upgrading Digital Infrastructure
In addition to the mobile towers, the CM has also instructed officials to upgrade the State Data Centers to Tier-3 standards to support enhanced digital services.
- The goal is to transform Chhattisgarh’s digital landscape, especially in the tribal regions where connectivity has been limited, to ensure better access to information and services.
A Personal Commitment
The Chief Minister’s push for improved digital connectivity in Chhattisgarh’s tribal areas is not only a response to the central government’s goals but also a personal mission for him, given that he was born and raised in a rural village in the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh.
