With its made-in-India surgical navigation systems, the medtech startup aims to challenge global imports and scale internationally
HRS Navigation Secures Pre-Series A Round to Drive Growth
HRS (Happy Reliable Surgeries) Navigation, a Bengaluru-based medtech startup, has raised $5 Mn (INR 44.3 Cr) in a Pre-Series A round led by GVFL, Physis Capital, and Sathguru Catalysers, with participation from India EXIM Bank and KITVEN.
The fresh capital will be used to:
- Boost manufacturing capabilities
- Accelerate product innovation
- Expand internationally
GPS for the Operating Room
Founded in 2015 by Arpit Paliwal and Shweta Paliwal, HRS Navigation is India’s first homegrown surgical navigation technology company.
The startup builds image-guided surgical systems that act like GPS for surgeons, offering real-time visual guidance during complex procedures such as:
- Brain surgeries
- Spinal surgeries
- ENT operations
Its proprietary platform, easyNav, has assisted in 20,000+ surgeries across 20 Indian states and is already deployed in prominent hospital networks including Apollo, Sahyadri, and Ramakrishna Care Hospitals.
Product Portfolio: Precision Through Innovation
HRS currently offers two key surgical navigation systems:
- easyNav Infinity
- Built for both large hospitals and regional centres
- Integrates with OR equipment
- Offers advanced sensors and real-time tracking for improved accuracy
- easyNav 2.0
- Focuses on neurosurgical precision
- Uses optical tracking to guide surgeons through delicate brain procedures
These platforms are designed to be compact, affordable, and user-friendly, addressing the constraints of Indian hospitals while eliminating consumable parts, reducing the cost per surgery significantly.
Building India’s Medtech Edge
In a domain traditionally dominated by global medical device giants, HRS stands out for:
- Indigenous development and manufacturing
- Affordability for resource-constrained hospitals
- Customization for Indian operating environments
“Our mission is to make surgical navigation accessible to every hospital and surgeon,” said cofounder Arpit Paliwal. “This funding strengthens our innovation pipeline and global scale while proving that India can build world-class medtech.”
Backing India’s Deeptech Medtech Wave
HRS’s funding aligns with a growing trend of investor interest in Indian medtech startups combining hardware innovation with healthcare delivery.
Other notable examples include:
- Reveal Healthtech – Raised $7.2 Mn in September to provide engineering and clinical model support to global healthcare firms
- Theranautilus – Raised $1.2 Mn for its magnetic nanorobots for dental precision treatments
Together, these startups reflect India’s push toward affordable, locally-built precision healthcare technologies.
Global Ambitions Rooted in Local Strength
With the global surgical navigation market projected to grow rapidly, HRS Navigation aims to leverage its domestic success to expand into international markets, offering a cost-effective alternative to expensive imported systems.
By blending local innovation with global standards, HRS is not just scaling a business—it’s building India’s credibility in advanced medtech manufacturing.
