Neuron Energy Scales to 3 GWh as EV Battery Race Heats Up

With plans to scale to 3 GWh, launch an automated plant, and expand R&D, Neuron Energy positions itself as a frontrunner in India’s booming EV battery ecosystem

Fresh Capital Fuels Manufacturing Ambitions

Neuron Energy, a fast-growing EV battery manufacturer, has secured INR 31 Cr in a pre-Series B funding round.
The round was led by Equanimity Ventures, with participation from Rajiv Dadlani Group, Thackersay Family Office, Chona Family Office, and several high-net-worth individuals (HNIs).

  • With this round, Neuron’s total funding now stands at INR 80 Cr.

Scaling to Meet Soaring Demand

Neuron will use the funds to scale manufacturing capacity to 3 GWh.
A key component of this expansion includes setting up a fully automated facility for four-wheeler and bus battery production at Chakan, near Pune.

  • This move reflects a strategic shift from two-wheeler EVs to larger vehicle segments, with a focus on lithium-ion and next-gen sodium-ion battery technologies.

Boosting R&D and Global Presence

Beyond manufacturing, the company plans to deepen its R&D efforts, critical for staying competitive in the rapidly evolving EV battery market.

  • The capital will also support domestic and international market expansion, as Neuron eyes a revenue target of INR 200 Cr for this year, with future projections soaring to INR 900 Cr.

Diversifying Battery Solutions

Founded by Pratik Kamdar, Neuron Energy offers a wide range of electric mobility solutions, including:

  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Advanced lithium-ion batteries
  • Emerging sodium-ion technologies

This diverse product portfolio positions Neuron to cater to multiple EV categories—from scooters to buses—while staying future-ready with alternatives to lithium.

Riding the Wave of India’s EV Revolution

Neuron’s fundraise aligns with the accelerated momentum in India’s EV and battery ecosystem, driven by:

  • Government incentives for cleaner mobility
  • Decreasing battery costs
  • High adoption of electric 2- and 3-wheelers
  • Rising demand for battery swapping and charging infrastructure

Investors are actively betting on EV infrastructure startups such as BatteryPool, Offgrid, and Battery Smart, which have raised significant capital this year to plug the infrastructure gap.

Meanwhile, giants like Ola Electric are investing in in-house 4680 lithium-ion battery production, aiming for vertical integration and reduced dependence on imports.
