With Fresh Capital, Brandworks Eyes AI Hardware Exports And Taiwan R&D Centre

The startup will use the fresh capital to expand R&D, grow its engineering team, and enter new global markets with its electronic hardware portfolio

Electronics manufacturing startup Brandworks Technologies has secured an additional $4 Mn (INR 38 Cr) as part of its extended Series A round, led by Roha Family Office. This follows the $7 Mn first tranche raised in August from Cactus Partners and GVFL, bringing the total Series A round to $11 Mn (INR 97 Cr).

Founded in 2017 by Nikita Kumawat and Ishwar Kumar, the Mumbai-based startup designs and manufactures a wide range of electronic hardware products, including:

  • Audio wearables
  • GaN (Gallium Nitride) chargers
  • Power banks
  • Mini sound bars
  • UPI soundboxes
  • PoS terminals
  • Dash cameras
  • Smart car mirrors

What’s Next For Brandworks?

Brandworks plans to utilise the new capital to:

  • Scale R&D and AI hardware capabilities
  • Expand into IoT and connected device ecosystems
  • Grow its design, engineering, and operations teams
  • Set up a new design and R&D centre in Taiwan, tapping into the region’s expertise in PCB design and product engineering

Currently, the startup operates a sole R&D office in Bengaluru and claims to work with over 40 brands as their R&D and manufacturing partners.

“We’ve innovated for leading audio brands and built fast-charging solutions and backup devices now used widely. We’re now set to export these product lines to Europe,” said cofounder Kumawat.

Riding The Tailwinds Of India’s Manufacturing Push

Brandworks’ growth aligns with India’s policy-driven push toward self-reliant electronics manufacturing. The central government has rolled out several production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, aimed at boosting local production of smartphones, wearables, semiconductors, and IoT devices.

The latest of these, the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), has already received investment proposals worth INR 1.15 Lakh Cr, double its target. The scheme is expected to:

  • Generate INR 10.34 Lakh Cr in production
  • Create over 1.4 Lakh new jobs

In October, the Centre approved seven new electronics projects under ECMS, with companies like Kaynes Circuits, SRF, Syrma Electronics, and Ascent Circuits receiving the green light to manufacture core components like PCBs, camera modules, and laminates.

Why This Matters

With increasing demand for AI-integrated hardware and smart connected devices, companies like Brandworks are critical in building India’s indigenous capabilities.

Their shift toward exporting to global markets and localising core electronics components positions them to capitalise on both India’s electronics boom and global supply chain diversification away from China.
