Surging Demand for AI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing
The report highlights a 75% spike in demand for professionals skilled in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and cloud computing. These fields are rapidly expanding as businesses continue to invest in automation, data security, and scalable cloud solutions.
Additionally, the gig economy and remote work are set to contribute 10% to the overall sector growth, offering more flexibility in employment. However, 40% of the workforce will need upskilling to remain competitive, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in the evolving job market.
Salary Trends and Skill-Based Growth
The report also reveals significant shifts in salary trends based on experience and skillsets:
- DevOps professionals with expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) have seen a 10% salary increase due to the rising demand for cloud infrastructure management.
- Frontend developers with less than five years of experience experienced a decline of ₹1.5 LPA (US$1,750.84), while those with six or more years saw an increase of ₹4 LPA (US$4,668.90).
- Python remains the highest-paying backend skill, with salaries doubling every five years of experience.
- Java salaries have grown fivefold for professionals with over 10 years of experience, reflecting its continued relevance in enterprise applications.
Bengaluru Leads, While Tier-2 Cities Emerge as Tech Hubs
Bengaluru continues to dominate India’s tech landscape, accounting for 35% of the country’s tech workforce. It is followed by:
- Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad (20% each)
- Pune (15%)
- Chennai (10%)
Meanwhile, Tier-2 cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Indore are emerging as new technology hubs, particularly for roles in AI and cybersecurity. These cities are benefiting from lower operational costs and an expanding talent pool, making them attractive to both startups and established IT firms.
