Anglo American Swings to a Loss with Declining Revenue in FY24

Anglo American Posts FY24 Loss, Revenue Decline

Anglo American (AAL.L, AGL.JO) announced on Thursday that it reported a loss for the fiscal year 2024, with revenue dropping compared to the previous year.

  • The loss attributable to equity shareholders for the 12 months ending December 31, 2024, was $3.07 billion.
  • This marked a shift from the previous year’s profit of $283 million.
  • Loss per share stood at $2.53, in contrast to an EPS of $0.23 last year.

Revenue for the mining company also took a hit, amounting to $27.29 billion, a decrease from $30.65 billion in 2023.

Dividend Announcement for Shareholders

Despite the financial setback, the board has proposed a final dividend of $0.22 per share.

  • The dividend will be payable on May 7, 2025, to shareholders recorded by March 14, 2025.
  • Last year, the company paid $0.41 per share.
  • The total dividend for FY24 will be $0.64 per share, down from $0.96 in FY23.
