RVNL Shares Dip 2% Post Q4 Results Despite ₹1.72 Dividend Declaration
Profit Decline and Weak Revenue Trigger Investor Caution
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) shares came under pressure on May 22, 2025, falling nearly 2% to an intraday low of ₹404.05, after the company posted disappointing Q4FY25 earnings.
- At 10:43 AM, the stock recovered marginally but remained down 0.74% at ₹409.05, underperforming the BSE Sensex, which was down 0.81% at the time.
Earnings Miss Weighs on Sentiment
RVNL reported a 4% year-on-year (YoY) drop in consolidated net profit to ₹459.15 crore in Q4FY25, compared to ₹478.56 crore in Q4FY24.
- While profits rose 47% sequentially from Q3FY25’s ₹311.44 crore, the YoY decline and slight revenue dip raised concerns among investors.
- Revenue from operations stood at ₹6,426.88 crore, down 4.3% YoY from ₹6,714.01 crore.
On an annual basis, FY25 net profit fell 17% to ₹1,281.39 crore, compared to ₹1,550.69 crore in FY24.
- Full-year revenue also dropped to ₹19,923.02 crore from ₹21,878.53 crore, reflecting execution and margin pressures across the rail infrastructure sector.
Dividend Announcement Offers Limited Support
Despite the muted results, RVNL’s board declared a final dividend of ₹1.72 per share, subject to shareholder approval.
- The payout reflects the company’s intent to maintain shareholder returns even amid profitability pressures.

Investor Outlook
While RVNL remains a strategic player in India’s infrastructure push, the decline in earnings and revenues, along with a cautious macro outlook, has prompted near-term weakness in its stock.
- Investors will closely watch for execution momentum, order inflows, and the impact of government capital expenditure in upcoming quarters.
- The dividend yield and long-term project visibility may support the stock over time, but near-term sentiment remains subdued.
