Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a global strategic partnership with Anthropic, becoming a Global Premier Partner in the Claude Partner Network.
Announced on June 11, the agreement includes a large-scale rollout of Claude AI to 50,000 employees and the creation of a dedicated business unit focused on Anthropic’s technology.
The move expands TCS’s push into enterprise AI and gives the company early access to Anthropic’s models and tools.
Claude AI rollout inside TCS
Claude AI will be deployed across several functions, including:
- Engineering
- Finance
- Legal
- Sales
- Marketing
- Consulting
A separate Claude-focused AI business unit will be set up to develop customer solutions, create industry-specific applications and support enterprise deployments.
TCS also plans to use the internal rollout to gather operational insights that could later be applied to client projects.
Focus on regulated sectors
The partnership is aimed at industries where compliance and governance requirements are stringent.
Target sectors include:
- Banking
- Financial services and insurance
- Healthcare
- Life sciences
- Medtech
- Telecom
- Aviation
- Government and public services
TCS believes many companies have struggled to move AI initiatives beyond pilot programmes. The collaboration is intended to address that challenge and support production-scale deployments.
Access to agentic coding tools
As part of the agreement, TCS will gain access to Claude Code, Anthropic’s software engineering framework for agentic coding workflows.
That could help with legacy modernisation projects. One example is the migration of older COBOL-based banking systems to Java and cloud-native environments.
Such projects are common in banking and insurance, where companies continue to run large legacy systems.
Safety-focused approach
TCS is taking a different route from companies that rely heavily on the Microsoft-OpenAI ecosystem.
Its partnership with Anthropic gives it access to the company’s Constitutional AI framework. Anthropic says the approach is intended to reduce hallucinations and improve reliability.
That could be important in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, aviation and public services, where accuracy and regulatory requirements are critical.
AI pipeline and margin focus
TCS has already disclosed an AI pipeline of more than US$1.5 billion in FY26.
The partnership is expected to help turn more of those opportunities into revenue by speeding up the development and deployment of enterprise AI offerings.
The company is also looking at internal efficiency gains.
Management is targeting productivity improvements of 20% to 30% in software engineering and operational workflows through the use of Claude AI tools.
Those gains could help protect margins at a time when IT services companies are facing wage pressures and pricing challenges.
TCS currently reports operating margins of about 24% to 26%.
India’s role
Anthropic Chief Executive Officer Dario Amodei said India is the company’s second-largest market globally.
The agreement also strengthens TCS’s WisdomNext platform, where Claude will become one of the integrated enterprise models.
The platform allows customers to switch between different AI models depending on workloads. TCS intends to position Claude for applications that require higher levels of reliability and governance.
Founded in 1968, TCS operates in 56 countries through 194 delivery centres. The company reported consolidated revenue of more than US$30 billion in FY26.
TL;DR:
TCS has become a Global Premier Partner in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network. The company will deploy Claude AI across 50,000 employees, create a dedicated business unit and target enterprise AI projects in regulated industries.
