Apple Watch Ultra 3 and iPhone 17 Signal New Health and Design Focus

From ultra-thin design to health-focused features, here’s everything Apple unveiled at its fall event

iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Series: Bigger, Better, Smarter

Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup is here, delivering enhanced display tech, sleeker aesthetics, and noticeable performance improvements.

  • Display & Design: The iPhone 17 now features a 6.3-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals—an upgrade from the previous 60Hz on the iPhone 16. Its Pro models retain premium designs with a distinct new twist: a rear camera bar stretching edge to edge.
  • Camera System: The base model gets a 48MP ultrawide lens, while Pro versions enhance overall optical quality.
  • Material Shift: The iPhone 17 Pro swaps out the titanium frame for aluminum, possibly prioritizing weight reduction over durability.
  • Pricing & Storage: iPhone 17 starts at $799 with 256GB, up from iPhone 16’s $699 and 128GB. The Pro model is $1,099, while the Pro Max comes in at $1,199.
  • Colors & Cases: Apple introduced fresh colors—lavender, mist blue, sage, black, and white. A new case line, called TechWoven, replaces the poorly received FineWoven from 2023.

iPhone Air: Ultra-Thin and Ultra-Premium

One of the most talked-about reveals was the iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest phone ever—just 5.6 mm thick—and a replacement for the iPhone Plus line.

  • Display & Build: With a 6.6-inch screen, 120Hz ProMotion, and eSIM-only configuration, the Air combines sleekness with modern utility.
  • Design Direction: This ultra-thin profile suggests a shift toward Apple’s likely foldable phone debut in 2026, rivaling the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
  • Price & Colors: Starting at $999, the iPhone Air comes in black, white, sky blue, and light gold.

Apple Watch Ultra 3, Series 11, and SE 3: Health Meets Connectivity

Apple’s wearable lineup continues to grow with more health monitoring and faster connectivity.

  • Ultra 3: Packed with 5G, satellite connectivity, faster charging, and a larger screen, this is the most powerful Apple Watch yet.
  • Health Features: Both Ultra 3 and Series 11 now include blood pressure monitoring, alerting users to critical highs and lows.
  • Watch SE 3: Although limited in upgrades, it now offers an always-on display via the faster S10 chip.
  • Pricing: SE 3 is priced at $249, Series 11 at $399, and Ultra 3 at $799.

AirPods Pro 3: Smaller, Smarter, and More Capable

After a long wait since the AirPods Pro 2, Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 deliver a strong generational leap.

  • Compact Design: The earbuds are smaller and more ergonomic, improving comfort.
  • Audio & Features: Alongside enhanced sound quality, they debut a heart-rate sensor for fitness tracking and a real-time translation tool powered by Apple Intelligence.
  • Price: They retail for $249, the same as their predecessors at launch.

One Notable Absence: AI-Enhanced Siri

Despite advances in hardware and Apple Intelligence, Siri didn’t get the expected AI upgrades. Apple risks falling further behind Google and Samsung, both of which are integrating AI into their digital assistants more aggressively.

Apple’s 2025 hardware event introduced the iPhone 17 series, the ultra-thin iPhone Air, Apple Watch Ultra 3 with blood pressure monitoring, and AirPods Pro 3 featuring heart-rate sensing and live translation. While the hardware shines, the absence of AI-powered Siri leaves a gap in Apple’s innovation front.
