Samsung releases One UI 8 to Galaxy A53 and A33 5G users in Korea, with a wider rollout expected soon. Both phones are also eligible for the upcoming One UI 8.5.

Samsung Delivers One UI 8 on Schedule for A-Series

Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 8.0 update, based on Android 16, to the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G, starting with South Korea.

  • This follows Samsung’s October rollout schedule, demonstrating strong adherence to its update promises.
  • The Galaxy A53 5G firmware carries version GYI2, while the Galaxy A33 5G update uses version GYI3.

A broader release in other regions is expected to begin in the coming days.

How to Check for the Update

To see if the update is available for your device:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Software update
  3. Select Download and install

Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery before updating.

What’s New in One UI 8 (Android 16)

One UI 8 brings a range of system-wide upgrades and UI enhancements, including:

  • Refreshed UI elements with smoother animations and transitions
  • Improved privacy controls and notification management
  • Updates to Samsung’s stock apps, such as Messages, Calendar, and Camera
  • Enhanced battery usage insights and device care tools
  • Smarter AI suggestions and personalization features

While some features are reserved for flagship models, the update still delivers a meaningful upgrade for A-series users.

One UI 8.5 Is Also on the Way

While One UI 8 is still rolling out, Samsung is nearing completion of One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 QPR2.

  • The Galaxy A53 and A33 are eligible for One UI 8.5, and the update should land after the Galaxy S26 launch.
  • It will introduce additional UI refinements, feature upgrades, and better system performance.

This ensures that even mid-range Samsung phones continue to receive meaningful software support.
