ISOCELL HP5 Goes Mainstream: 200MP Cameras Coming to More Flagships

Just a day after launch, the ISOCELL HP5 is being adopted by Realme and Vivo, bringing Samsung’s cutting-edge 200MP camera tech to more smartphones.

Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 Goes From Announcement to Adoption in 24 Hours

Samsung’s newly unveiled ISOCELL HP5 camera sensor — a 200MP mobile imaging powerhouse — is already making waves. Despite launching just yesterday, reports from China confirm that major smartphone brands are wasting no time integrating it into their upcoming flagship models.

Realme GT 8 Pro to Feature ISOCELL HP5 with Periscope Zoom

According to reliable Chinese tipsters, the upcoming Realme GT 8 Pro will be among the first smartphones to use the ISOCELL HP5 sensor. The phone is also expected to feature a periscope telephoto lens, pairing Samsung’s ultra-high-resolution sensor with advanced zoom capabilities — a combo rarely seen in this price segment.

Sensor Specs: Smaller in Size, Smarter in Tech

The ISOCELL HP5 features:

  • 📸 200MP resolution
  • 🔍 1/1.56-inch sensor size
  • ⚙️ 0.5µm pixel size

While it’s physically smaller than earlier 200MP sensors from Samsung, the company claims image quality won’t be compromised. That’s thanks to two key technologies:

  • Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG): Reduces noise and improves charge transfer
  • Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI): Increases pixel-level light absorption, boosting dynamic range and detail

Together, these enhancements are said to improve Full Well Capacity, helping the HP5 deliver better low-light performance and sharper images, even with its smaller footprint.

Vivo Y500 Pro Also Tipped to Use ISOCELL HP5

It’s not just Realme making the move. Leaks suggest Vivo’s upcoming Y500 Pro will also pack the ISOCELL HP5, showing how quickly Chinese OEMs are racing to adopt the latest in camera innovation.

This rapid adoption isn’t surprising — Chinese smartphone makers have long relied on Samsung ISOCELL sensors, and are typically first to market with new hardware advancements.

Who Will Launch It First?

As of now, it’s unclear whether Realme or Vivo will be the first to bring an ISOCELL HP5-powered phone to the market. But given the pace of development and the competition between brands, we can expect an official unveiling from at least one of them within the coming months.

Why This Matters for Mobile Photography

Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 opens the door for more affordable flagship-level photography with:

  • Ultra-high resolution (200MP)
  • Improved low-light imaging
  • Enhanced zoom integration via periscope lenses
  • Smaller size for easier device integration

This democratizes high-end mobile photography, pushing the 200MP standard from niche to mainstream.
