Samsung’s latest software leak reveals S26 series chipset plans and a redesigned Samsung Internet app, both set to launch with One UI 8.5 in early 2026.
One UI 8.5 Leak Offers Glimpse into Galaxy S26 Upgrades
Samsung’s internal Galaxy S26 Ultra firmware is providing early insight into One UI 8.5, and with it, key hardware and software upgrades. The latest leak reveals the inclusion of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and a refreshed Samsung Internet browser.
This reinforces Samsung’s strategy to align software enhancements with flagship hardware launches, expected in February 2026.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Powers All S26 Models in the U.S.
While expected, the firmware now confirms that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will power the:
- Galaxy S26 Pro
- Galaxy S26 Edge
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
In the leaked One UI 8.5 code, the chipset is identified by the model number PMK8850, widely believed to be Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite successor.
- Built on TSMC’s enhanced 3nm process, the chip features:
- Octa-core CPU with 2 Oryon prime cores and 6 efficiency cores
- A next-gen Adreno GPU for improved gaming and rendering
- This ensures top-tier performance for Galaxy’s U.S. models
Exynos Still in Play Globally
While the U.S. models get Snapdragon, trusted sources note that Exynos 2600 is still planned for other global markets.
- The Exynos variant will also debut with One UI 8.5
- It includes its own copper-based cooling solution and 2nm architecture
