One UI 8: Everything New Coming to Galaxy S24 and S23

From Adaptive Lock Screen Clocks to AI-Powered Briefings—Here’s What Samsung Is Adding in the Next Major Update

One UI 8 Brings Big Upgrades to Galaxy S24 and S23 Series

Samsung is preparing to roll out One UI 8, its next major software update built on Android 16, and while the Galaxy S25 leads the beta testing, the Galaxy S24 and S23 series are next in line to receive the update. Thanks to early access builds and enthusiast reports, we now have a clear look at some of the most exciting new features.

1. Adaptive Lock Screen Clock

Samsung’s new adaptive clock style, first introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, is making its way to the Galaxy S24 and S23.

  • Offers stylish, dynamic fonts that adjust based on wallpaper or ambient light
  • Designed for personalization and readability, aligning with One UI’s evolving aesthetic

Samsung is adding smart wallpaper recommendations to the Gallery app, similar to what Google Photos offers.

  • One UI 8 will suggest photos from your personal gallery for use as home or lock screen wallpapers
  • The feature appears in the Wallpaper and style section, making selection intuitive and quick

3. Enhanced Audio Eraser

The Audio Eraser feature is getting smarter and more widely integrated:

  • Now works directly in Samsung Notes and the Voice Recorder app
  • Includes a one-tap audio cleanup tool in the Gallery, automatically enhancing recorded audio in videos

Perfect for content creators, students, or professionals who frequently use audio clips or memos.

4. Call Captions

Inspired by Google Pixel, Call Captions transcribe phone conversations in real time:

  • Displays live captions during calls for better accessibility
  • Informs the other person that the call is being captioned, maintaining transparency
  • Useful for hearing-impaired users or noisy environments

5. Now Brief: Read Aloud + YouTube Integration

Samsung’s AI-powered Now Brief is evolving with new accessibility and content tools:

  • Read Aloud lets your device speak summaries generated by Now Brief
  • YouTube integration embeds video recommendations directly within your daily briefing
  • Blends AI summarization with audio and visual content in one centralized hub

Who Gets These Features First?

While these features are currently being tested internally on the Galaxy S24 and S23 series, they were first observed in Galaxy S25 Closed Beta builds. That said:

  • S24 and S23 users can expect these features in the official One UI 8 rollout
  • The features may appear gradually, based on regional updates and device variants
