Samsung Pushes First Galaxy S25 & S24 Update After One UI 8 Launch

October Begins with BYI9 and CYI9 Builds, Focused on Stability and Security Enhancements After Major UI Upgrade

First Update After One UI 8 Arrives for Galaxy S25 and S24

Samsung has kicked off October 2025 with its first set of updates for the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, marking an important follow-up to the recent One UI 8 rollout. While fans anticipated a fresh October security patch, the update still carries the September 2025 security level.

The rollout has begun in South Korea, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks.

Build Numbers and What’s Inside

Each device series is receiving its own specific build:

  • Galaxy S25: Update version BYI9
  • Galaxy S24: Update version CYI9

Despite retaining the September security patches, Samsung lists “security and stability improvements” in the official changelog. This first post-major-upgrade patch is particularly aimed at addressing bugs and smoothing out system performance introduced with One UI 8.

One UI 8: A Major Leap Forward

One UI 8 delivered a sweeping range of changes, including:

  • A more streamlined user interface
  • Expanded Galaxy AI features for older flagship models
  • Improvements to existing apps and tools
  • Enhanced overall performance and responsiveness

This October update reinforces the changes, polishing the initial experience and improving system stability following the wide rollout.

Global Availability and Installation

Though the update is currently limited to South Korea, Samsung is expected to expand availability soon. With One UI 8 already live across multiple countries, these follow-up patches are likely to follow a similar global timeline.

To update your device:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Software update
  3. Select Download and install

The update is lightweight, so users can confidently download it over a mobile data connection.

A Continuous Focus on Post-Update Refinement

This release confirms Samsung’s commitment to post-upgrade support, ensuring flagship devices receive timely fixes and performance refinements. As One UI 8 continues to roll out globally, users can expect more of these incremental updates aimed at stability and user experience.
