Samsung Gears Up for One UI 8 Watch Beta Launch
Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra to Lead Wear OS 6-Based Update Rollout
Following mobile, wearables are next in line
After opening the One UI 8 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is now preparing to extend the beta testing phase to its smartwatch lineup. The upcoming One UI 8 Watch Beta, based on Wear OS 6, is expected to launch soon—initially targeting the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Key app updates signal beta readiness
Samsung recently rolled out updates for two critical smartwatch companion apps:
- Galaxy Watch Manager B
- Watch 7 Manager B
These utilities ensure seamless integration between Galaxy Watches and smartphones, and updates to these apps typically precede major OS changes. Given the timing, these updates suggest that beta firmware testing is imminent.
Beta launch aligns with broader One UI roadmap
The mobile version of One UI 8 Beta has just gone live in Phase 1 markets, laying the groundwork for the wearable counterpart. Samsung is expected to unveil both One UI 8 for phones and watches at its July Unpacked event, followed by the stable rollout across eligible devices.
- Galaxy Watch 4 through Watch 7 models are slated to receive the update.
- For the Galaxy Watch 4, this may be the final major OS upgrade, with future support limited to security updates.
How to join the Watch Beta
Samsung is making it easier for users to opt in:
- The Samsung Members app now features a dedicated One UI Beta hub.
- If you’ve already joined the mobile beta, your access to the Watch Beta will be streamlined—allowing for quick installation and testing of the new software.
Final preparations underway
Samsung’s proactive approach, from early beta rollouts to critical companion app updates, shows a clear intent to deliver a polished and stable experience when One UI 8 Watch becomes official. This beta cycle will help fine-tune performance and eliminate bugs ahead of the stable release in the months following Unpacked.
