Skip the Hype: Galaxy S24 FE Is a Better Buy Than the New A56

Samsung Galaxy A56 Debuts in the US—But the Pricing Misses the Mark

A premium mid-ranger with flagship ambition, but not at the right price

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A56 5G in the United States, but the fanfare is clouded by pricing concerns. With a starting price of $499, the A56 lands in a crowded midrange market—and its value proposition is questionable when compared to its in-house competition, the Galaxy S24 FE.

What You Get with the Galaxy A56

The Galaxy A56 5G features some premium specifications:

  • Exynos 1580 chipset
  • Up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage
  • 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • Ships with Android 15-based One UI 7
  • Six years of OS and security updates
  • Offers AI-powered tools like:
    • Object Eraser
    • Best Face
    • AI Select
    • Circle to Search (Google)

It comes in two finishes: Lightgray and Graphite, under Samsung’s “Awesome” branding.

What’s Missing—and Why It Matters

Despite its specs, the A56 lacks flagship essentials:

  • No wireless charging
  • No powershare capabilities
  • No IP rating disclosed
  • Less visual refinement compared to S-series devices

These omissions make the $499 price tag hard to justify, especially when better-equipped options are available at similar or lower prices.

Galaxy S24 FE: The Better Buy?

Samsung’s own Galaxy S24 FE is already on sale in the US:

  • Originally priced at $649 (128GB) and $709 (256GB)
  • Currently available for $525 and $585, respectively
  • Offers flagship-grade features:
    • Wireless charging, Powershare
    • Premium design
    • Full Galaxy AI experience
    • Priority software updates

With only a $25–$85 price gap, the S24 FE outclasses the A56 in virtually every aspect.

Should You Buy the A56 Now?

If you’re interested in the A56 for its design or battery life, it’s better to wait. Based on Samsung’s pricing patterns, a price drop of $50–$100 is likely within a few months. At around $399–$449, the A56 becomes a compelling midrange option.

Until then, the S24 FE remains the smarter investment for those seeking a balanced mix of performance, features, and longevity.
