Tired of Robocalls? Here’s How to Block Numbers on Samsung Phones

Protect yourself from spam, robocalls, or unwanted contacts with Samsung’s built-in number blocking features—available on all recent Galaxy devices.

Why Blocking Calls on Your Galaxy Phone Matters

Spam and robocalls have become a major problem worldwide. In the U.S. alone, nearly 48 billion robocalls were made last year. Whether it’s a persistent telemarketer or someone you’d rather not hear from, Samsung makes it easy to block calls and textsno third-party apps or carrier services needed.

Built right into One UI, Samsung’s blocking tools work across all carriers and Galaxy models. Let’s break down the simple steps to regain your peace and privacy.

How to Block a Number on a Samsung Galaxy (One UI Devices)

Samsung has streamlined the process in recent One UI versions. Here’s how to block a number directly from the Phone app:

  1. Open the Phone app
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (top right corner)
  3. Go to Settings > Blocked numbers
  4. You now have two choices:
    • Block unknown callers: Toggle this ON to auto-block hidden numbers
    • Block a specific number: Type it in, or choose from Recents or Contacts

Blocking from Your Contacts App

If the number is saved in your phone:

  1. Open the Contacts app
  2. Tap on the contact you want to block
  3. Tap the three-dot menu
  4. Select Block contact and confirm

This will stop all calls and texts from that person going forward.

Quick Block from Call History

Need to block someone who just called you?

  1. Open the Phone app > go to Recents
  2. Tap the “i” icon next to the number
  3. Tap the Block button at the bottom-right corner

Done. Calls and texts from this number will now be blocked instantly.

Can Blocked Numbers Still Leave Voicemail?

Yes. While Samsung blocks incoming calls and messages, it does not prevent voicemails from being left by the blocked number.

  • If you want to block voicemail too, you’ll need to contact your carrier for full call blocking at the network level.

How to See Missed Calls and Blocked Texts

If you’re curious whether a blocked number tried to reach you:

  • Calls: Open the Phone app > go to Recents. Blocked calls will have a special icon indicating they were auto-rejected.
  • Messages:
    1. Open the Messages app
    2. Tap the three-dot menu > Settings
    3. Go to Blocked numbers and messages > Blocked messages

You’ll find any auto-filtered texts here.

Blocking on Older Samsung Devices

Using an older Galaxy phone like the Galaxy S5? The steps are slightly different:

  1. Go to Menu > Settings
  2. Tap Call > Call rejection > Auto reject list
  3. Tap the + icon and enter the number to block

You can always unblock a number from the same menu if you change your mind later.
