Festive Cheer for Himachal’s Government Workforce

Ahead of Diwali, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a comprehensive hike in wages and honorariums for various categories of state government employees and local body representatives.

The announcement, termed a “big Diwali gift,” aims to support low and mid-level public workers across departments and provide financial relief during the festive season starting October 18.

Government’s Intent: Recognizing Ground-Level Contributions

This wage revision reflects the state government’s recognition of grassroots service providers. Many of these roles—like meal workers, local body councillors, stitching instructors, and SPOs—play a critical part in everyday governance and public service delivery.

“The hike acknowledges the hard work and dedication of those supporting the system at the foundational level,” a government spokesperson noted.
