Cristiano Ronaldo Is Playing For Manchester United Today Against Southampton?

Ronaldo is expected to start when Manchester United hosts Southampton in the Premier League later today (12 February).

Rangnick’s side will aim to return to winning ways after being held to Burnley’s 1-1 draw, who are currently in the relegation zone. Red Devils fall out of Premier League top four following this result.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line for United against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton at Old Trafford.United will now return to Old Trafford with Cristiano Ronaldo expected to lead the line against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton side. Despite starting on the bench, Ronaldo took part in the match against Burnley. A 37-year-old forward was introduced with 20 minutes remaining in the game and failed to make an impact.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is likely to be joined in attack by Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. Paul Pogba is also expected to start for Ralf Rangnick in midfield.

Ronaldo faced Southampton four times during his first stint at Old Trafford. In those four matches, the 37-year-old forward has scored twice. During the 2004-2005 season, one of the goals was scored in the Premier League and the other in the FA Cup.

At the moment, Manchester United are sixth in the Premier League standings, having collected 39 points from 23 matches. Currently fourth in the table, West Ham United are just a point behind Manchester United. However, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have games in hand over the Hammers and United, which puts them in a more favorable position.

As a result of their 3-2 win over Tottenham, Southampton moved into the top half of the standings. The Saints are currently 10th in the table, having amassed 28 points from 23 games.

The form of Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United has been patchy

Over the past few weeks, Cristiano Ronaldo has not been in the best of form for Manchester United. Since the December 3-1 win against Burnley, the Portuguese forward has not scored for the Red Devils. He has not scored in his previous four Premier League outings.

Ralf Rangnick has addressed the problem and wants all of United’s forwards to step up and score more goals. Speaking to the press ahead of their game against Southampton, Rangnick said:

“It’s not only about Cristiano Ronaldo. He should score more goals, it’s obvious. I think we are creating enough chances and enough opportunities in the last couple of games but we just didn’t score enough goals, but this is not only an issue with Cristiano, it’s an issue with the other players, especially the offensive players. We don’t score enough goals.”

Despite his recent poor form, Cristiano Ronaldo still leads Manchester United in goals this season. In 25 appearances across all competitions, the 37-year-old forward has scored 14 goals.
