Hyderabad FC edge Kerala Blasters in a shootout to Win the 2021-22 ISL title!

The Nizams defeated Kerala Blasters in a penalty shootout…
On Sunday, Hyderabad FC won their first Indian Super League trophy after defeating Kerala Blasters on penalties in the final at the Fatorda stadium in Goa.

In a game of tight margins, the two South Indian sides ended up 1-1 at the end of normal time. In the penalty shootout, Hyderabad FC won 3-1 after extra time failed to produce a goal.

Having lost all three finals they have reached, Kerala Blasters were devastated. Ironically, it was Blasters who looked destined to win after Rahul KP’s strike gave them the lead in the 68th minute.

Sahil Tavora’s stunning volley with just two minutes remaining in normal time pegged Blastes back and forced extra time.
Both teams had plenty of chances in extra time, but neither of them scored. In the shootout, goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani was the hero for Manolo Marquez’s team.

Attimani, who conceded Rahul KP’s opener, went on to make three saves out of four he faced, which was enough for Hyderabad FC to win the title, much to the disappointment of the Blasters.
