Inside shoppin’: The AI Fashion Startup Backed by Mixi & Info Edge

With backing from Mixi Global and Info Edge, shoppin’ aims to scale its AI-led fashion search engine across Western markets, targeting 1 Mn users with immersive, creator-driven experiences.

A fresh boost for fashiontech
shoppin’, an AI-powered fashion discovery startup, has raised $3 Mn in seed funding led by Mixi Global Investments and returning investor Info Edge Ventures. The round brings the total funding raised to $4 Mn, following a $1 Mn pre-seed round.

Eye on Western Expansion

The new capital will fuel shoppin’s expansion into the US and Western markets, with an ambitious goal of onboarding 1 million users in the next six months. A large portion of the capital will go into Gen Z creator partnerships, AI innovation, and community-led programs.

AI Meets Fashion: How shoppin’ Works

A multi-modal search experience
Founded in 2024 by Shlok Bhartiya and Utsav Soi, shoppin’ offers an AI-powered multi-modal search engine. It allows users to explore fashion using:

  • Text prompts
  • Product descriptions
  • Images
  • A combination of visuals and text

It also includes virtual outfit try-ons and recommendations for moods and occasions, offering a personalized and intuitive shopping journey.

Moving Beyond Keywords

Instead of relying on traditional keyword searches, shoppin’ focuses on aesthetic-led discovery, enabling Gen Z to shop based on vibes, styles, or occasions — a method that aligns closely with how younger audiences consume content today.

The AI Fashion Boom: A Growing Opportunity

From hype to impact
shoppin’s latest raise comes as AI adoption reshapes the fashion industry, from design and supply chains to user experience. Tools like:

  • Virtual try-ons
  • Image-based search
  • AI-powered recommendations

…are becoming standard among digital-first brands.

Investor Confidence in Fashiontech

Fashiontech startups are catching investor attention. Recently:

  • PointAI (formerly Try ND Buy) raised $5.3 Mn to develop advanced 3D body model try-ons
  • Glance launched a GenAI-powered shopping app, combining real-time personalisation with “digital reflections”

Meanwhile, Myntra, Tata Cliq, Nykaa, and AJIO are deepening their AI integrations to stay competitive.

What Sets shoppin’ Apart?

A Gen Z-first, AI-native approach
shoppin’ is not just building another ecommerce app. It’s positioning itself as an AI-first discovery platform that understands the visual and emotional cues Gen Z users care about.

By combining creator-led marketing, community engagement, and technology-first features, the startup aims to carve a unique space at the intersection of fashion, tech, and culture.
