A Leader in Meta PR joins Apple’s AR Headset Project

The Cupertino-based company has been in the news for the past couple of weeks, and now, it is reported that Apple has hired Meta AR Public Relations to lead Andrea Schubert in developing the augmented reality headset.
Meta has been the market leader in headsets with Oculus, so such a hire makes sense as Apple nears its launch,” Mark Gurman wrote in the PowerOn newsletter.

Andrea was the comms lead for Oculus with Meta and the Communication Director for Meta Reality Labs since March 2016. In the past, she was the director of Outcast, a PR agency with clients at Oculus and Facebook, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Besides, various speculations have been raised about Apple’s AR headset. It is said that the AR headset might depend on other devices like Mac or an iPhone.

Based on The Information reports, the AR headset might be an independent device with two 8k screens that may cost around $3,000.
However, Gurman stated that it would support high-quality VR games. He also shared that AR glasses will only follow up the VR headset, but it might take several years.

Many sources claim that the device will hit the markets in 2022 or 2023. Nevertheless, Apple hiring a Meta PR lead confirms that the project is on the cards.
