Adani Group to Start 5G Services in Six Circles

Adani Group surprised everyone by entering the 5G spectrum auction. 5G was initially seen as a way to compete with Jio and Airtel in the consumer space. However, the Adani Group later clarified that it only wants to serve B2B customers. Adani Group does not want to enter the consumer mobility space at the moment, and that makes sense. For now, it can be perceived that Adani Data Networks Ltd, the Adani Group subsidiary which participated in the spectrum auctions, will start with services in six LSAs (Licensed Service Areas). Apparently, Adani Data Networks has applied for a universal license in six circles, according to an ET Telecom report.

It was also very limited 5G spectrum that the company bought and only covered a few circles. These six circles are where Adani Data Networks might have its spectrum. With the help of fast 5G networks, the group will begin providing services to enterprises. The company has to apply for a license to fulfil the regulatory requirements. A license wasn’t held by the Adani Group company at the time when it participated in spectrum auctions.

Adani Data Networks 5G Spectrum Auction 2022 Purchase Details

Adani Data Networks purchased 400 MHz of spectrum in the 26 GHz band for Rs 212 crore. Despite the fact that mid-band spectrum is most beneficial to consumers, the group refused to select it. It was a very conservative purchase from Adani Data Networks and doesn’t show any interest of the company in participating in the consumer space with Jio, Airtel and Vi with 5G.

As the market matures in the consumer space, we may see the Adani Group potentially enter the market because it wants to give Reliance strong competition in the 5G era.
