Adobe Brings Premiere Video Editing to iPhone with AI and 4K Support

Free to use with powerful editing and Firefly AI features, Premiere for iPhone brings pro-grade video tools to mobile creators on the go.

Adobe Premiere Lands on iPhone

Adobe has officially launched its Premiere video editing app for iPhone, giving creators access to professional-grade tools on a mobile interface. The move reflects Adobe’s increasing focus on mobile-first creators, with an Android version currently in development.

  • The app is free to use and features a multi-track timeline, letting users add and edit video, sound, music, and text.
  • It supports 4K HDR editing, color and shadow adjustments, and auto-generated captions—all optimized for small screens.

“We know that the next generation of creators prefers to edit on mobile,” said Mike Folgner, Adobe’s product director.

Clean Audio, Anywhere

Adobe has made it easier to work with mobile-captured clips, which often contain background noise.

  • A slider control lets users reduce noise and enhance dialogue with ease.
  • This is a key addition for creators recording in dynamic, outdoor, or spontaneous environments.

AI-Powered Features via Firefly

The Premiere mobile app integrates several AI tools, built using Adobe’s Firefly models, to unlock creative possibilities:

  • Generate background sounds from a text prompt, or even by humming or singing, which the app converts into a sound effect.
  • Create custom images and stickers for use in projects.
  • Turn static images into video transitions for stylized effects.

⚠️ Note: These AI features require paid credits, though the base app remains free.

Access to Adobe’s Stock Library

Adobe is also providing free access to its stock content library, including:

  • Photos
  • Clips
  • Sound effects and music

This makes it easier for mobile editors to enrich their content without external downloads or licensing headaches.

Cross-Platform Cloud Workflow

The mobile version supports project handoff to Adobe Premiere on desktop via Adobe Cloud, allowing seamless continuation of work.

  • Currently, you can only send projects from mobile to desktop, not the other way around.
  • This limitation may be addressed in future updates as Adobe refines its mobile ecosystem.

Competing in a Crowded Market

By bringing Premiere to iPhone, Adobe positions itself as a direct competitor to popular mobile video editing tools like:

  • CapCut (ByteDance)
  • Meta’s Edits
  • Captions (backed by a16z)
  • InVideo (India-based)

While many of these competitors focus on ease of use, effects, and social media sharing, Adobe is betting on professional-quality tools and cross-platform editing to win over serious creators.
