The Cupertino tech giant Apple has been removing old apps from its Apple App Store. The company is removing all apps that have not been updated in the last three years, according to the latest report. Long story short, the tech giant is making room for new apps which much deserve to be on the platter compare to the ones that are just crowding the App Store. Let’s have a closer look at the latest news.
According to Apple’s official announcement, all apps in the App Store that haven’t been updated in the last three years and do not reach the minimum download threshold will be removed from the store. The app developers will receive “an email notifying them that their app has been identified for possible removal from the App Store”.
According to the company, the previously downloaded apps will remain available on the user’s device.
“And developers, including those who recently received a notice, will now be given more time to update their apps if needed — up to 90 days,” the company added further.
Also, the apps which are going to be removed from the App Store will remain working on devices. “User trust in quality apps is the basis for all we have done in building and running the App Store,” said Apple said in a statement.
App developers who want to save their apps can send an update within 30 days and stay on the App Store without any worry.
“You will be asked to submit an update within 30 days to keep your app on the App Store. If you are unable to make the changes within this time frame, your app will be removed from the App Store until you submit an update and it is approved.”
