By adding a real-time safety and compliance layer to AI pipelines, Elloe AI aims to prevent hallucinations, bias, and legal violations—before they reach end users.
Guardrails for a Runaway AI Industry
Owen Sakawa, founder of Elloe AI, sees a serious gap in today’s AI infrastructure: there’s no immune system.
As companies race to deploy LLM-powered agents, few are addressing the potential dangers of hallucinated facts, unfiltered bias, compliance risks, or privacy violations.
“AI is evolving at a very fast pace, and it’s moving without guardrails,” Sakawa said ahead of TechCrunch Disrupt, where Elloe AI is a Startup Battlefield Top 20 finalist.
What Elloe AI Does
Elloe AI is not an LLM itself, but an API and SDK designed to sit on top of an AI model’s output pipeline.
Think of it as infrastructure that filters AI-generated responses before they reach users or downstream systems. Its mission: verify, secure, and explain every answer an AI gives.
“It fact-checks every single response,” Sakawa explains, acting as a real-time moderator for LLM outputs.
The Three Anchors of Trust
The Elloe AI platform has three distinct layers—called “anchors”—that process and validate LLM responses:
- Fact Anchor
- Cross-verifies AI outputs against verifiable sources to detect hallucinations or false claims.
- Compliance Anchor
- Checks for violations of global regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, and flags any exposed PII or sensitive content.
- Audit Anchor
- Creates a detailed audit trail for every decision. This includes the confidence score, data lineage, and reasoning path, enabling transparent review by regulators or enterprise auditors.
These anchors turn opaque LLM outputs into traceable, defensible decisions.
Why Not Just Use Another AI?
While some companies use LLMs to critique LLMs, Sakawa calls that approach flawed:
“It’s just a Band-Aid into another wound,” he says.
Instead, Elloe AI employs non-LLM machine learning models and human-in-the-loop monitoring to ensure decisions align with legal standards and ethical norms—especially as AI laws rapidly evolve.
The human layer stays up to date with new data protection regulations and AI safety protocols, ensuring the system is not just reactive, but proactive.
More Than Moderation—This Is Infrastructure
Sakawa positions Elloe AI as foundational, not optional:
- It’s a middleware layer that enterprises can plug into their existing LLM stack
- It ensures reliable, accurate, and compliant AI interactions
- It helps teams deploy with confidence, especially in regulated industries like finance, healthcare, or legal tech
As companies scale their AI tools, Elloe AI aims to be the layer that prevents harm before it happens, making AI agents safer, smarter, and more accountable.
“We want to be the immune system and the antivirus for any AI agent,” Sakawa says.
Elloe AI is building a safety infrastructure for LLMs, acting as an immune system that filters outputs for hallucinations, legal violations, and bias. With fact-checking, compliance analysis, and audit trails, it provides a transparent, secure layer between AI and the real world.
