The newest update by Google Maps will also allow users to pay for street parking and also pay transit fares directly through the app.
This initiative has been launched in partnership with Google Pay.

Street Parking And Transit Fees To Be Paid Through Google Maps; Find Out How?
Street parking and transit fees can now be paid right from the app of Google Maps, as revealed by the company. Google Maps has also said that it will also be adding two mobile parking payment solutions providers, which are Passport and ParkMobile, to its app.
These features will be added to the Google Maps app in collaboration with Google Pay.
The procedure for this is to simply tap on the ‘Pay for Parking’ button. This button appears when you are near your destination. On clicking this button, you will be required to enter your meter number, the amount of time you want to park for and tap ‘Pay’. If you want to add more time to your meter, you can extend your parking session simply with some more taps.
Google has also said that the ability to pay for transit fares for more than 80 transit agencies across the world. As per Vishal Dutta, Product Manager, Google Maps; and Fausto Araujo, Product Manager, Google Pay, “Now you’ll be able to plan your trip, buy your fare, and start riding without needing to toggle between multiple apps.”
Will It Come To India?
Google said it is expanding the ability to pay for transit fares for over 80 transit agencies around the world.
As per reports, there also is a way to pay in advance and one can also get their fare ready and go before you arrive at the station. This becomes quite helpful when you arent sure about your payment options that are supported by a transit agency supports.
When transit directions are received by the users, there will be an option to pay with your phone with the credit or debit cards that are already linked to your Google Pay account.
The Pay for parking has started on Android in 400+ cities in the U.S, (including Boston, Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C, and more)
Reports are that the ability to pay for transit from Google Maps will soon be extended to 80 agencies globally on Android in the next few weeks.
