Imagine a phone with a sliding display? Samsung is making that a reality

According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Samsung has patented a flexible smartphone with a sliding display that folds well around the device. The device will have a flexible display that resembles an extension of the main screen that runs the length of the back.

The flexible display will be minimally adjustable. According to the images, the phone will have both a rear camera and a front-facing selfie camera. Interestingly, the rear camera may be used to take selfies.

Depending on the reports, the smartphone will also include a curved-edge display in front that reaches to cover part of the back cover. Samsung is also working on a smartphone that can unfold and unfold both ways.
Two hinges will support the three display parts of the foldable phone. When completely extended, the dual-fold smartphone can be utilized as a tablet. This smartphone has three displays that can be folded into a Z shape with twin hinges, one on the inside and one on the outside.

Samsung’s double-fold smartphone will include an HDMI port as well as support for the S Pen, according to a patent. Samsung is expected to release its next-generation Fold4 in the early third quarter of 2022, with a more advanced Under Display Camera (UDC).

In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s entire primary camera arrangement is being updated, bringing it in line with the current flagship’s camera. The Fold 4 is rumored to incorporate a hinge in the future, which might assist reduce the weight. As well as being dust-resistant, the new hinge will also be water-resistant.
