Samsung Display has introduced a new ultra-thin OLED panel for laptops at Computex 2026, aiming to help manufacturers build slimmer devices without sacrificing image quality or performance.
The company showcased the display as part of a lineup of 16 OLED panels presented during the event.
More than 20% thinner
Samsung Display said its new Ultra Slim laptop panel is more than 20% thinner than the company’s current-generation OLED panels.
The reduction was achieved by etching:
- The thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate glass
- The encapsulation glass
According to Samsung Display, the thickness of each layer was reduced by more than 30%, while avoiding the warping problems that can occur in thinner panels.
HDR and gaming features remain intact
Despite the slimmer design, the panel retains high-end specifications.
Its features include:
- VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification
- Black levels as low as 0.0005 nits
- Peak brightness of 1,000 nits on a 10% window
- Refresh rates of up to 240Hz
Samsung Display said 240Hz is the highest refresh rate currently available among OLED laptop panels.
Highest ClearMR certification
The panel has also received VESA ClearMR 11000, the highest rating in the standard.
According to the company, that means the display delivers 110 times more clear pixels than blurry pixels when showing moving content.
