Samsung Unveils Exynos 2500 with 10-Core CPU, RDNA 3 GPU, and Direct Satellite Connectivity
The new 3nm Exynos chip brings next-gen performance, advanced AI, and satellite support, powering the Galaxy Z Flip 7 globally.
Exynos 2500 Marks a Major Step for Samsung’s Mobile Chips
Samsung has officially launched the Exynos 2500, its first 3nm smartphone processor, signaling a bold comeback in the premium mobile chip space.
- The Exynos 2500 is expected to power the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 globally after its missed debut with the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year.
- With significant performance improvements, the chip targets flagship smartphones, though it doesn’t directly challenge Snapdragon 8 Elite in raw performance.
10-Core CPU and RDNA 3-Powered Xclipse GPU
The Exynos 2500 packs a 10-core CPU built for efficient, high-performance tasks:
- 1x Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.3GHz for peak performance.
- 2x Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74GHz and 5x Cortex-A725 cores at 2.36GHz for balanced efficiency.
- 2x Cortex-A520 cores running at 1.8GHz for background tasks.
For graphics, Samsung continues its collaboration with AMD, introducing the 4th-generation Xclipse 950 GPU based on RDNA 3 architecture:
- Supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enhancing gaming visuals.
- Delivers a 28% faster frame rate for raytracing games compared to its predecessor.
Boosted AI, Satellite Connectivity, and 5G Enhancements
The Exynos 2500 brings notable advancements beyond raw performance:
- 15% faster multi-core CPU performance over the Exynos 2400.
- A 39% faster NPU, boosting on-device AI tasks and smart features.
- Integration of the Exynos 5400 5G modem, supporting speeds of up to 12.1 Gbps.
- Direct Satellite connectivity, enabling emergency calling and texting via low-earth orbit satellites, especially useful when cellular coverage is unavailable.
Advanced Camera and Storage Support
Samsung’s new chip supports premium mobile photography and media experiences:
- Compatible with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage for faster performance.
- Supports up to a 320MP image sensor.
- Enables 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K recording at 120fps with 10-bit HDR.
- Features zero shutter lag for 108MP or 64MP+32MP dual-camera setups, though these camera specs aren’t expected on the Flip 7.
Built for Efficiency and Next-Gen Flagships
The Exynos 2500, manufactured using fan-out wafer-level packaging (FOWLP), enhances thermal efficiency and reduces overheating in a compact package.
For System LSI and Samsung Foundry, this chipset marks a critical milestone in regaining competitiveness in the flagship processor market.
