Mountains Calling? Plan An Escape To Those Sprawling Tea Plantation Visits In South India!

Are you missing the mountains? Well, why not think of a holiday to one of the rich tea plantations near Bangalore? Ensuring you a relaxing getaway, these dreamy locations are also home to some beautiful resorts set right amidst tea plantations. We’ve done the hunting and made together a bunch of the best tea estate resorts you can check out on your next vacation (we’re hoping it happens quickly, fingers crossed).

Windermere Estate

Possibly one of the most stunning heritage plantations stays in Munnar, Windermere Estate is nothing less than an exquisite action. Among 18 rooms built around the first planter’s bungalow, the place resembles the neighboring tea fields. Done up with old-world furniture, the studios are all rustic and elegant and unique in their way. A huge boulder right in the center of the property (with a vantage point on top!), a restaurant serving dishes made with local food, a Kerala-style tea shop, a cozy library, and a pool for fresh dips are just some of the other features to a lookout.

Where: Windermere Estate, Pothamedu, Munnar

Price: Rs. 8,000 onwards

Parisons Plantation Experience

His 200-year-old estate tucked away amidst Wayanad’s tea estates is perfect for a laidback vacation apart from the city’s buzz. Estate has two kinds of accommodations for yourself to pick– the Estate Heritage Bungalow and the Estate Boutique Bungalow. If you’re done soaking up the serene vibes and the striking views of the tea estates all around, there are activities like plantation tours, tea tasting, birdwatching, and spa treatments to complete the adventure. Apart from an in-house eatery dishing out delicious meals, they’ve also got a library and courts for badminton and tennis to keep you occupied.

Where: Parisons Plantation Experience, Thalappuzha Police Station Rd, Wayanad

Price: Rs. 8,500 onwards

Oland Estate Stays

Established on a 120-acre estate with everything from tea and coffee to pepper and cloves, Oland Plantation Stays in Coonoor is amongst the region’s best estate stays and eco-resorts. While just the sight of the rolling hills and tea estates in the morning would be enough to intensify up our day, there’s more extra to this locality! Imagine bird watching, tea tasting, exploring waterfalls, and, of course, traveling on the toy train! All set for your vacation in the mountains?

Talaya Valley Bungalow

With rich tea gardens throughout you turn to, this old-world bungalow is where you can kick back for a genuine escape. Featuring vintagesque furnishings, the studios here add to the place’s appeal, letting you relax and cozy up without a disturbance. While we’d cheerfully chill here and explore the site, the folks at the boutique stay also offer to take guests to the nearby tea industry, where you can even attempt whisking up a cup of your tea by yourself.

Where: Talayar Valley Bungalow, V-363, Kannan Devan Hills Village, Talliar post, Idukki

Price: Rs. 6,500 onwards

Red Hill Nature Resort

How about spending the relaxed evenings by a fireplace, lost in a novel, or sipping a hot mug of tea? Or conceivably waking up nice and early to catch the sun rising above lush tea plantations, just outside your comfy cabin? You can get to encounter all these and more at Red Hill Nature Resort in Ooty. You are offering exercises to help you explore the place, nature walks, treks, and organic farming for you to try. You can also influence your inner sense of calm and go for a yoga relaxing or sign up for identity of their tea tasting evenings.

Price: Rs. 10,000 onwards

La Maison

It’s exciting to describe La Maison – it’s a boutique resort, homestay, and heritage estate stay, all rolled into one. Probably built in 1888 and later renovated with the original frame intact, a French couple runs the place. Preserving the yesteryear feel with antique furniture while bringing in modern facilities for a luxurious stay, the cabins bring together the best of both worlds. The garden outside with its pleasant corners and hammocks is where you can spend the lazy mornings before setting out to explore Kotagiri and its landmarks.

Where: La Maison, Hadathorai, Nihung Post office, Kotagiri

Price: Rs. 6,600 onwards
