This City Rated #1 By Digital Nomads Who Are Never Working From Office!

Lisbon tops the chart of the best locations for an executive nomad to live, as per the new research from Savills as part of its Impacts 2022 programme.

Savills Executive Nomad Index

The Savills Executive Nomad Index has ranked 15 destinations for long-term remote workers. All these places have a digital nomad visa programme or equivalent. In the case of the US and European countries, they are already part of a significant economic system that enables free movement of people for living or work. The places that made it on the Savills list offer favourable climatic conditions all year-round, a high quality of life and have established-prime residential markets.

A modern executive nomad, a distant cousin of the freelance creative working from a café in Hawaii or Costa Rica, owns a villa in the Algarve or a condominium in Bali, attends Zoom calls while in an airy home office, flies back to London, New York, or Geneva when the quarterly board meeting is due.

Given the good travel connections and the availability of high-speed internet, employees and their families are motivated to relocate to an area that places greater emphasis on health, wellness, and overall lifestyle.

Lisbon : Lisbon tops the ranking because of Portugal’s high quality of life. Low pollution and a great climate are also definite advantages. Lisbon also offers strong air connectivity as it has a well-connected international airport. Another Portuguese location, the Algarve, came in fourth place, as it offers many of the same benefits.

Miami: In second place is Miami. With a warm climate and beaches, it is no wonder that Miami has grown in appeal as a remote working location in the US. Miami offers big-city benefits, such as good air connectivity, good digital infrastructure, and a strong prime rental market, while still offering residents a good quality of life.

Dubai : Dubai came in third place. It is a topper in the Savills index because of the air connectivity, reaching over 100 countries with more than 240 destinations.

Barbados : Barbados, which has the fastest internet in the Caribbean, ranked fifth, because of its appealing climate and good air connectivity.

Barcelona : In sixth place there is Barcelona. Barcelona offers fast internet connections as well as excellent connectivity through air travel and train travel.

As the workplace has evolved to a new, more flexible model, executive nomads are turning vacation homes into year-round residences as they previously were seen as holiday homes. Some locations in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and cities such as Lisbon, Miami, and Dubai offer them connectivity, favourable climates, and a high quality of life and are preferred for this reason.
