Zomato Delivery Executive From Hyderabad Delivers Orders On Cycle
Zomato customer, Robin Mukesh was touched by the delivery executive, Mohd Aqeel’s story. The 21-year-old engineering student, a resident of Talab Katta in Hyderabad, is the sole breadwinner in his family. The coronavirus pandemic pushed his father’s business of making slippers into losses. That’s when Aqeel decided to join Zomato as a delivery executive to support his family. Despite not being able to afford a bike, he delivers multiple orders on a bicycle, cycling as fast as he can amid ravaging weather to complete his orders on time. It’s been 1 year since he is a delivery executive pedalling on the streets in a rickety Hero cycle. He completes 20 orders per day, travels 80 km on his bicycle and earns around ₹8000 per month, which is still not sufficient to support his family.
Customer Launches Fundraiser To Gift Him A Bike
His story inspired Robin Mukesh, who got his food from Nilofar Cafe Lakdikapul delivered all the way to his residence at King Koti by Mohd Aqeel. Robin Mukeshmoved by his plight launched a campaign to raise money for him to gift him a bike. This campaign was posted on Facebook groups ‘The Great Hyderabad Food and Travel Club’. Within 10 hours of starting the campaign, they had successfully managed to raise ₹60,000. By the time they stopped the campaign, they raised ₹ 73,370, an amount exceeding the target. Mukesh revealed to The News Minute that they bought him a TVS XL bike, costing ₹ 65,000. They will also gift him a helmet, raincoat and transfer the extra amount for his college fees. Aqeel was touched by this gesture. With tears of joy, he revealed to Telangana Today that he can now deliver 30 orders daily on time and feed his family.
