Sheikha Hissa, the daughter of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid took to Twitter to share an emotional tribute to her father, who passed away last week. Sheikha Hissa shared a touching tribute to her father while sharing family photos on Twitter. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid’s passing was announced on Wednesday by his younger brother, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Sharing pictures of her childhood, Sheikha Hissa wrote: “People lost a father. I lost my best friend.” The images show the father-daughter duo in various stages of their lives, bringing to light the adorable bond they shared.

On March 24, after the announcement of Sheikh Hamdan’s death, she tweeted: “My beloved father is with God.” In another post, Sheikha Hissa shared an image of her three brothers at their father’s funeral calling on God to “strengthen their hearts”.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, also took to Twitter to share his tribute. He posted a video montage portraying Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid throughout his life, including when he was sworn into his government positions.

Sheikh Hamdan was the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance. A mourning period of 10 days has been declared in Dubai, as a mark of respect towards the departed soul. Flags will be flown at half-mast during the mourning period. Meanwhile, all government departments and entities across Dubai suspended their operations for three days, beginning Thursday, March 25.

Sheikh Hamdan’s nephews, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were among those who lowered the body to the grave in the Umm Hurair cemetery. The funeral prayers were performed at Za’abeel Mosque, which was attended by several members of the royal family.
