Goa Assembly elections; BJP leader Joshua D’Souza filed his nomination from Mapusa

Mapusa :  BJP leader Joshua D’souza filed his nomination paper for the Mapusa constituency seat on Thursday in the presence of BJP leaders, including the Constituency incharge of  BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, Ram Satpute, and other BJP leaders.

The upcoming Goa legislative assembly elections have turned the Goa environment into an electoral battlefield as all the parties are gearing up for the election and aiming to win the assembly polls. Joshua is the son of a former deputy minister late. Francis D’Souza. After Francis D’souza’s demise, he was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly from Mapusa in the by-election in 2019 as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Previously, from the same constituency, Shyamsunder Navgi was elected from Congress in 1980. Then in 1999, Francis D’Souza was elected to the Rajiv Congress. Therefore, Congress never got a chance to represent this constituency. Babush had joined the BJP after the 1999 victory. Since then, this constituency has been under the BJP’s control. At least five candidates from this constituency will file nominations for the electoral battlefield. Along with BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party will be the main rivals.
