Several Galaxy phones and tablets get Android 16 early, as Samsung accelerates its One UI 8 expansion ahead of October’s schedule
A Busy Month-End for Samsung’s Update Servers
Samsung closed September 2025 with a surprise push: the One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, reached several Galaxy devices ahead of schedule. The software, which was supposed to begin rolling out to some models in October, made an early appearance in South Korea and other regions.
- Widespread availability: Millions of users globally have now received the update.
- Unexpected rollout: Samsung accelerated updates for flagships, foldables, mid-range, and even budget models.
Which Devices Got One UI 8 Early?
Samsung updated the following devices in the final two days of September:
- Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab S10 series
- Galaxy A36, A26, A55, A35
- Galaxy M36 5G (Jump4)
This rollout not only spans across flagships and foldables, but also includes Galaxy A and M series devices—bringing Android 16 to a wide variety of users earlier than promised.
Feature Differences by Device
While One UI 8 brings a core system upgrade and performance improvements across all devices, not every model gets the same feature set.
- Galaxy S24 series and Z Fold/Flip 6: Enjoy full Galaxy AI functionality, including the new Now Brief feature.
- Galaxy S23 series and Z5 foldables: Now Brief is not included—Samsung appears to be limiting it to newer flagships.
- Mid-range and M-series phones: Get enhanced UI performance, battery optimization, and security patches, but no Galaxy AI features.
This confirms Samsung’s ongoing strategy of tiered feature access, where flagship models enjoy the complete One UI 8 experience, while other models focus on performance and UX polish.
What to Expect in October
While Samsung’s early rollout caught many off guard, the global expansion is officially set to resume on October 2nd, bringing One UI 8 to more:
- Galaxy S22 series
- Z Fold 4 / Z Flip 4
- Additional A-series models
- Remaining S10 and S9 tablets
If your device isn’t on the early rollout list, you likely won’t have to wait much longer.
How to Check and Install the Update
To manually check for the One UI 8 update:

Samsung Sends a Clear Message
By accelerating the rollout, Samsung signals strong confidence in One UI 8’s stability and shows a commitment to offering timely updates across all tiers—a welcome change from earlier delays with One UI 7.
Even without all flagship features, users across the board can enjoy smoother performance, updated visuals, and enhanced privacy powered by Android 16.
