Audi Is Keen To Enter Formula One, May Partner With McLaren

Audi is seeking ways to secure its Formula One (F1) entry. In all likelihood, the German brand could do this through a partnership with McLaren Automotive.

Audi’s supervisory board will likely make a decision today, while the board of Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen, discussed entering Formula One last week.
On Monday (15th November), the British marque dismissed a report stating that Audi had acquired the McLaren Group as “wholly inaccurate”.

Even though the owner of McLaren has not changed, the company said its technology strategy has always included ongoing discussions and collaboration with relevant partners and suppliers, including other carmakers.
On the other hand, Audi stated that it was considering various cooperation ideas without mentioning a possible McLaren Group buyout.
Volkswagen has been involved in the deliberations about the new powertrain Formula One cars will have by 2026. Audi’s F1 entry seems more confident than ever with a possible partnership with McLaren. Porsche might also enter as a powertrain partner.
