Microsoft has unveiled a new Maybelline Beauty app within Microsoft Teams, offering users a seamless way to adjust their personal style during Teams meetings. The Maybelline Beauty app, created in collaboration with the Geena Davis Institute, provides 12 unique looks, allowing users to select from various digital makeup colors and blur effects. The filter showcases the exact Maybelline items and colors used to create the makeup, enabling users to apply the same look to their own faces in real life.
The app utilizes AI-powered functionality from Modiface, an augmented reality technology for the beauty industry owned by Maybelline’s parent company, L’Oreal. Through Modiface’s advanced technology, the app identifies over 70 points on the user’s face to create a “virtual map,” facilitating the seamless application of digital filters.
This exciting feature is currently available in preview mode for Microsoft Teams Enterprise customers worldwide. The official release will roll out starting July 19, and users can find it under the “Video Effects” section in the Teams meeting settings.

Before the meeting:
- Click on the “Join meeting” button.
- In the new window that opens, select “Video Effects.”
- Click on “More Video Effects” to access additional options.
- Scroll down and find the “Filters” category. Click on it.
- Look for the “Maybelline” filter and select it.
- Preview the different Maybelline looks on the right side of the window. Scroll to see all available options.
- Once you’ve chosen your desired look, click “Join now” to enter the meeting with the Maybelline filter activated.
During the meeting:
- Click “More” at the top of your meeting screen to open a menu with various customization options for video and audio settings.
- Select “Video Effects” from the menu to open a new window displaying different effects and filters.
- Scroll down on the right pane and choose “Maybelline” under the “Filters” category.
- Explore the range of Maybelline looks available and select your favorite.
- Preview each look on the left pane to see how it changes your video. Adjust the intensity of the filter using the slider below the preview.
- Click “Preview” to see your selected look without others viewing it or “Apply” to turn on your favorite look for everyone to see.
