India-bound Toyota Innova HyCross: Features revealed in a new video

Toyota India will soon be lifting the cover off its new MPV Innova Hycross. The MPV has already been unveiled in Indonesia and we have also seen several interesting pictures and videos of the same. Outside India, the Hycross is known and Toyota Innova Zenyx and here we have a new video that shows almost all the features that the upcoming MPV would be offering when it is launched in India.

Toyota Indonesia has uploaded the video on their YouTube channel and the video introduces the product – Toyota Innova Zenix in detail. The video is almost 8 mins long and it shows the exterior and interior features and also the cabin of the Innova Hycross. Starting with the exterior, the upcoming Toyota Hycross looks different from the outgoing Crysta. The overall exterior design of the Innova Hycross looks like a crossover or an SUV than an MPV. The car has several elements like an all-LED headlamp unit, large front grille with gloss black outlines, completely redesigned bumper with a new lip spoiler. There are a couple of LED fog lamps just above the bumper spoiler.

Even from the front, the Hycross looks muscular and SUV-ish. At the rear, the MPV gets typical Toyota design with roof-mounted spoiler, LED tail lamps, rear faux skip plate, parking sensors and so on. The MPV comes with 18 inch alloy wheels with a new design. When compared to Innova Crysta, Hycross is longer and wider, and it is 1,850 mm wide and 4,755 mm long. Toyota Innova Hycross is based on TNGA platform which is a monocoque construction. The outgoing Innova Crysta is a ladder-on-frame MPV.

Coming to the cabin, Toyota has finally started offering a much more modern looking interior with Innova Hycross. The cabin comes with a large panoramic sunroof with ambient lights on both sides. There are roof mounted AC vents and a semi digital instrument cluster is also shows in the video. Just like Innova Crysta, Hycross is also an MPV with three row seating. The second row passengers get captain seats and the higher variants also offers a electrically reclining seats with leg support for the second row passengers. Other than this, Toyota is also offering a 10 inch floating type touchscreen infotainment system. There is even an option for two 10 inch rear seat entertainment screens in the international variant.

The seats are wrapped in dual-tone leather upholstery and the steering wheel has controls for the touchscreen and cruise control. The car also offers electric tailgate with voice command. Wireless phone charger and 360 degree camera are also offered with this new MPV. It would probably be the most feature loaded Toyota when it comes to India. Toyota is also offering features like Adaptive cruise control, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist with the new Innova Hycross. Toyota is also offering a Automatic Emergency Braking of Pre-Collission System with the Hycross.
Toyota is also offering several connected car features with the Hycross like many other manufacturers. Coming to the engine and transmission option. Toyota Innova Hycross will be offered with a petrol engine only.

The 2.4 litre turbo diesel engine is likely to be replaced with a strong hybrid version for better fuel efficiency. There will be a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that would be offered with the lower variants of Innova Hycross. It will be offered with a manual and automatic transmission option. The higher variants are more likely to get the strong hybrid engine. It will also be a 2.0 litre engine with a strong hybrid system like the the Hyryder. It will have a dedicated EV mode and would also return better fuel efficiency.

Toyota will be officially unveiling the MPV in India on November 25. We have to wait and see if Toyota will offer all these features in the Indian version or will they simply cut down on features like they have done in the past. Pricing is also going to be a factor as Innova is an MPV that has a large fan base in India.
