Maruti Suzuki is launching the Grand Vitara in India this month, and the company has already received 53,000 bookings before announcing the price. Bookings for the SUV opened on July 11 and just over a month later, we can see strong demand. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be built in Toyota’s Karnataka plant and while we do not yet know the annual capacity for the car, it’s very clear that the company will need to ramp up production from the word go, given the strong demand for the SUV. There have been 22,000 bookings for the strong hybrid, which shows the customers’ interest in green mobility. The higher percentage of bookings remains with the mild hybrid.

There has been a lot of anticipation for the launch of the Grand Vitara name back in the Indian market. The new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will enter the hotly contested compact SUV segment in India this festive season and will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor as well as its sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in our market. It will be offered with a mild-hybrid and a strong hybrid powertrain options, and the company is claiming it to be India’s most fuel efficient SUV.

The 1.5-litre strong hybrid makes 114 bhp while the mild hybrid engine puts out 101 bhp. Head to our twitter feed where we have given you an inclination of what the SUV is like. Our review will soon be out. So stay tuned!
