Simple One, an electric scooter from Simple Energy, is set to drive on Aug 15.

The Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) startup produced the scooter using Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud.

Breaking Records

The company claims that its product is the quickest electric scooter in the country and sold in the premium e-scooter segment.

It also boasts of “the largest boot space in its segment”, amounting to 30 litres.

Build

It will have a single-piece seat with a pillion grab rail, a headlamp-mounted front apron, a ‘smart stand,’ and a flat footboard.

It weighs less than 110 kg.

Digital Features

The e-scooter comes with a removable battery, large touchscreen, onboard navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Bluetooth-enabled 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument console will support 4G connectivity as well as navigation.

These features are standard in other e-scooters such as the Ather 450X, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.

Safety

It will be fitted with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels and offer four riding modes.

The suspension will be handled by telescopic forks on the front side and a mono-shock absorber at the back.

Battery, Range, Acceleration, Mileage

Coming to the battery, it’s probably going to get a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

This is higher than the 2.9kWh unit in Ather bikes.

This will deliver a range of up to 240 km.

The numbers keep getting impressive, with acceleration from 0-50 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 100 km/h.

It will take only an hour to charge the scooter fully.

The developers have gone a step ahead and claimed that it could travel up to 2.5 km after just a minute of charging.

It could go up to 75 km with 30 minutes of fast charging.

Charging Stations For The Country

Simple Energy also introduced a simple loop, a fast charger to be deployed nationwide.

In an initiative that will benefit the EV market in India as a whole, they will set up 300+ charging stations in the coming months.

These can charge any e-scooter, not just limited to those developed by Simple Energy.

Pricing And Launch

Coming to the price, the e-scooter will likely set One back by Rs.1.1 lakh to compete with the Ather 450X, priced from Rs.1.4 lakhs.

The company will be bucking the trend once more by launching in multiple states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab.

This sets it apart from other EV makers who test the market with a soft launch in a few cities.
