Tata To Unveil New EV Tech Tomorrow, Nexon Long Range Unofficial Bookings Start

Tata Motors has flaunted a teaser on its social media handles that it’s set to unveil a new technology tomorrow while the brand’s select dealerships have also started unofficial bookings for its upcoming Nexon Long Range EV slated for 11th May launch.

Of late, the Tata territory has been quite buzzy with the brand currently on an EV onslaught. Starting from the unveil of the Curvv concept to rigorously testing the Nexon and Altroz EVs, Tata has, indeed, taken the EV game forward this time.

Now going by the details of the teaser that show a globe with connected dots, the new technology might be related to EVs with advanced connected features.

The Nexon EV is one of the cheapest electric cars in India

During the unveil of its Avinya concept a few days back, Tata stressed on the point that future connected technologies will be based only on audio and interaction rather than large displays and touchscreens that are the current trend with big EV makers like Tesla.

In fact, even the electric 2 wheelers in India are getting bigger and bigger screens with TVS being the only exception. It has brought Siri-like audio interface on its recently launched Ntorq 125 XT scooter rather than increasing the existing screen size.

Similarly, the Avinya concept had a large dash speaker but only a puny touchscreen fixed on to the steering wheel. Though the new technology unveil tomorrow could be on the said lines, we might also be wrong as the brand has revealed not many details.

Apart from this, select Tata dealerships have already begun bookings for the Nexon Long Range EV, which will launch on 11th May. Even though the exact booking amount is unknown, it should be in the range of Rs. 20,000 to 30,000/-.

The long-range version is reportedly equipped with a big 40 kWh battery pack with a range over 400 km (100 kilometers more than the standard version) and real-world numbers easily exceeding 300 km.
