Cognizant, a US-based IT firm, is looking to recruit thousands of people in India for new roles. The organisation has increased its recruiting activities in the country and plans to hire “more people than ever before” in the March quarter.
In India, the company currently employs over two lakh people. In the calendar year 2020, Cognizant recruited over 17,000 fresh graduates from campuses, and it plans to recruit over 23,000 fresh graduates in 2021, which is 35% more than in 2020. Over two lakh of the company’s 2.9 lakh employees are based in India.
Cognizant To Hire For New Roles
The US-based company has over 2.9 lakh employees based in India. The company had a headcount of 2,89,500 at the end of the December 2020 period, with overall attrition of 19% and voluntary attrition of 16%.
During the calendar year 2020, Nasdaq-listed IT firm, Cognizant will be hiring over 23,000 students in India alone. “We will be hiring over 23,000 students and this figure does not include BPO operations. Our plan is to hire students from STEM disciplines and primarily engineering,” said Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Chairman and Managing Director, Cognizant India on the side-lines of the eighteenth edition of CII Connect 2019.
“In recognition of the professionalism, client-centricity, work ethic and perseverance of our employees globally in serving our clients during this protracted pandemic, we are rewarding bonuses above the level of company performance and substantially higher than 2019, despite 2020 being an extraordinarily challenging year,” Cognizant India Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Nambiar said in a statement.
The company is also offering about 1,60,000 employees with merit increases globally, and has promoted more than 24,000 employees across every level, he added.
Promotion Cycle For Billable Employees
Cognizant net addition has been growing steadily and maintaining a competitive and appealing employee environment. Cognizant India Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Nambiar said that “the company continues to remain heavily focused on maintaining a competitive and appealing employee environment, where every individual is inspired to achieve, driven to perform, and rewarded for their contributions.”
“In order to reward our employees in a more timely manner for their hard work and high performance, we are moving to a quarterly promotion cycle for billable employees at the Senior Associate level and below, starting in Q2 2021,” he said.
“We aim for our employees to feel motivated, engaged, and empowered to do their best work through careers they find meaningful,” he added.
