Following a Lockdown, Kerala Starts Serving Food in Cars for Tourist Safety

In the tourism and food & beverage industry, the pandemic affected the industry to the core. The lockdown forced many restaurants to close, but many are still struggling to remain open. Restaurant owners are working to ensure the safety of customers while dining out and luring new customers. Kerala has introduced in-car dining since most people in India refuse to dine out. Local cuisine will be served inside the vehicles operated by the Kerala Tourism Department Corporation.
The In-Car Dining Will Ensure Safety Of Tourists
Kerala has launched the in-car dining initiative to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the state. At a time when Kerala struggles to revitalize its tourism sector, which accounts for 11% of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP), the in-car dining initiative is a welcome initiative. In June, the Kerala government launched its in-car dining project.


KTDC’s Aahaar Restaurants Will Serve All Meals In Cars Throughout The Day
KTDC’s Aahaar restaurants will deliver food to the guests’ cars after they place their order. Besides snacks, the in-car dining service will provide all three meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On a priority basis, the KTDC hotel chains will be renovated under the ‘Mission Facelift’ project. In addition, the hotels will ensure the safety of their customers.
