What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Savitribai Phule Pune University?

First you are welcome in SPPU. It is one of the best places in Pune city for hanging out! So enjoy life in campus. Here are some tips for students who are freshers.

While filling various forms online just take a screenshot of essential information like page of registration number, that will definitely help you in further pocesses. (Administration may ask you any number at any time so you have to preserve all info including your password.)
Don’t ever forget your permanent registration number (PRN) and Eligibility Number. They are essential for filling up every form eg. scholarship form.
If you have any work at bank then go earlier, because from 11 am onwards there is a huge rush.
Preserve each and every challan or receipt till end of your course.
Use jaykar library and study room as much as possible for your intellectual development.
For your physique you can jog across the campus, can play various sports on ground near main building and even can join gym near SET Bhavan at very cheap cost.
You can enjoy food from various canteens in the campus. Like Aniket, Adarsh, etc.
If you are planning to live in University Hostel then have lots of patience while taking admission. That is very lengthy process. And always keep in touch with your department’s office in charge.
Food in Refactory is not so good so having tiffin from outside is better.
You can enjoy various activities, workshops, seminars etc. organised time to time by your department as well as by other departmenst and various organizations.
You can join vocational courses and can take optional courses of other departments.
Interested in Politics? Then you can join various student organizations according to your ideology.
On weekends you can go to the Military Canteen (near army hospital) for tasty food, but please don’t forget to carry your id card for entry.
Don’t bunk your lectures. Don’t plan to prepare for compitative examination while doing your post graduation. And enjoy your academic life. All the best.
