5 Packing Hacks That Will Help Lighten Your Suitcase While Traveling

Planning a trip is quite fun. You not only get to pick a place of your choice but also get to choose the stay, the locations, etc. While planning is fun, we think packing for the trip is even more fun. Right from shopping for outfits to prepping looks, there’s a lot that goes into it. However, all our energy goes for a toss when we have to pack for the trip. And if you are a heavy packer, then we are sure you dread packing too. If yes, then don’t worry, we have something for you. Here are five packing tips that will help you pack light.

1. Pack around one basic colour
If you are travelling for a few days or even for a month, try styling your outfit around primary colours. Pick black, blue, olive green, brown or beige and style your outfits around it. However, packing less doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. You can always pack a generous amount of accessories to mix up your outfits. Accessories can make or break the look.

2. Packing visually is a better option
What we mean by this is- try choosing 2 to 3 tops for one bottom- this way, you not only end up saving space, but it also gives you a chance to add extra items. Plan your outfits, which helps you figure out the pairing of your outfits. Think about the outfits, visually imagine the look, accessorize it and then pack it.

3. Pack less and say yes to laundry
If you are a slow traveller and are planning to travel for 15 days to a month, you can always pack less and do laundry when you fall short of clothes to wear. Be it a hostel, BnBs, or hotels- every accommodation has a laundry facility. So to save on those extra baggage charges, say yes to laundry.

4. Learn the art of folding clothes
Rolling clothes can sometimes save a lot of space in your suitcase- however, before rolling all your clothes, ensure that you know what can be rolled and what has to be kept flat. Synthetic material outfits can be rolled since they don’t wrinkle- however, cotton needs to be kept flat. So think about the fabrics, type of outfits and then roll your clothes accordingly.

5. Use compression and divider bags
Dividers not only help you section out stuff that you are about to pack but also let you keep things in an organised way without worrying much about the iron, folds, etc. Similarly, a compression bag helps to hold a lot of stuff and takes less space, which means less space is occupied in your suitcase.
